Since 1948, Barbourville has hosted the Daniel Boone Festival — Kentucky's oldest continuous festival. Each October, downtown Barbourville transforms into a celebration of pioneer life and Appalachian heritage. The streets fill with craft demonstrations, artisan markets, parades, pageants, and living history reenactments that recreate the world of early Knox County settlers.
